A two-doctor office was looking for a complete technological overhaul. Dr. Katharine Murphy DMD PC owns a private dental office in Michigan with two attending doctors. When she purchased the office four years ago, it was full of outdated technology and required a complete technological overhaul. What do you do when you’re a dentist and you purchase a practice with outdated computers that still used wet films, and you want to go digital? Dr. Katharine Murphy DMD PC contacted her Patterson rep and asked that very question. Up until this point, the practice had been doing their own backups and taking them offsite (kudos for knowing they needed to be offsite!), but had no further IT support. In addition to buying a Schick System they also decided they wanted to upgrade to the Eaglesoft Practice Management System. The Patterson response came swiftly, and so did Dr. Murphy’s action – call Keith Remer at Advantage Technologies.
Four years ago, during Dr. Murphy and Keith’s initial meeting she explained her desires and Keith reviewed their current setup at the time. He then formulated a plan to put her desires into action. Talk about a complete makeover! Once everything was in place, then the fun began. The fun of learning a new PM, digital files and a completely new computer system. All of which is extremely difficult while actually trying to run a practice and see patients. Needless to say there was a learning curve, but luckily Dr. Murphy had Keith’s number on speed dial and between him and the entire support department at Advantage, they were able to get them through the rough patches. Dr. Murphy had the wisdom and foresight to be able to explain to her team, “You realize that with this change, your life will get easier?” Ultimately Dr. Murphy and her team began to see the light, and that light came with a higher rate of efficiency and a backup that no one at the practice had to worry about any longer. “Oh my gosh, you mean we don’t have to remember to take this tape into our cars (which by the way could also get destroyed in an accident), and to our house and then remember again to bring it back to the office?” They were in awe! Dr. Murphy also saw the advantage.
“For me, just knowing that things are being backed up, not just once, but multiple times during the day and work week. Knowing If there ever was an issue, I could get things back on track and moving again pretty quickly, is a huge peace of mind!”
As time progressed and Dr. Murphy’s practice continued to grow, they saw some interruptions in their systems. So they called the Advantage Support line and had a technician come out to see what was going on. Immediately they realized that the server was also being used as a workstation and at the front desk, one of the busiest locations there is. Dr. Murphy and her practice didn’t know this and why should they it isn’t their job. Advantage Technologies was able to see it immediately, diagnose the problems and offered them a solution; which was in turn put into place and solved their interruption issues.
The reason Dr. Murphy was able to immediately solve this, and other issues that have cropped up over the years, is because of the trust she has in Keith, the support team and Advantage in general.
